Scalarama Film Festival - The Spin

For Scalarama Leeds DIY Film Festival 2026, Feel Good Film Club Experience is screening Irish light-hearted comedy The Spin (2024). Based on the semi-autobiographical experiences of Omagh musician Mark McCausland, The Spin follows Dermot and Elvis, two best friends who are down on their luck. They face losing their beloved record shop, Boneyard Records, as their ruthless landlord Sadie is eager to evict them due to unpaid rent. The pair stumble across rare vintage records by blues legend Robert Johnson that are for sale in Cork at a knock-down price. If they can make it across Ireland in time, they might be able to change their fortunes and save the record shop! They set off on a chaotic road trip full of playful banter, lively conversations, unexpected encounters, new friendships and shenanigans in pursuit of the holy grail of vinyl records. This is a sweet and uplifting comedy about two lifelong music fans, their friendship, the role music plays in their lives, and the lengths they go to protect the things that matter most to them whilst chasing their dreams. Feel Good Film Club Experience is a DIY pop-up cinema club showcasing charming and joyful films, often featuring quirky characters, with either an activity or in an unexpected space.
