DESCRIPTION:Good Boys Film Club is proud to present a screening of four fil
 ms by artist\, filmmaker\, and poet Maya Deren: Meshes of the Afternoon\, 
 The Very Eye of Night\, Ritual in Transfigured Time and At Land.\n\nUnpara
 lleled in the seismic force of her images\, Maya Deren crafted vistas of s
 hifting consciousness\, utilising dance\, light\, and montage to shatter c
 ontemporary conventions of film. Eclipsing tired notions of meaning made s
 tandard by Hollywood fare\, Deren’s work foregoes definition to revel in
  the frothing spume of shared dream\, constructing an affectual and experi
 ential collage frequently in conversation with the boundaries of gender\, 
 violence\, and belief. \n\nHer influence is widespread\, inspiring the lik
 es of David Lynch\, Kenneth Anger and Barbara Hammer\, concretising her pl
 ace in the legacy of moving images. Little compares to the delight of witn
 essing an artist so attuned to the equal prevalence of violence and love r

 mer. Every Thursday and Friday in August\, we welcome local programmers\, 
 curators\, film clubs and cinema enthusiasts to Pictureville Cinema for a 
 summer of guest screenings. Each screening will be accompanied by an intro

  is a Leeds-based\, DIY film club interrogating images of masculinity\, vi
